Pursuant to N.J.A.C 5:70-2.9 of the New Jersey Uniform Fire Code, all vendors using commercial cooking equipment or open-flame devices for cooking at a public gathering are required to be inspected and obtain a Type 1 permit from the Fire Official.
Requirements:
- All propane tanks must be secured to a stationary object by cable or chain.
- One 10-lb. ABC portable fire extinguisher shall be readily available for use by all employees.
- Cooking devices shall not be placed into operation until an inspection is conducted by the Westfield Fire Department.
- All Cooking suppression systems and portable fire extinguishers must have an up-to-date certification tag.
